The Best Debut Albums in Classic Rock
I can only speak for myself but Appetite for Destruction is still one of the greatest albums I have ever heard. A lot of bands heard the first Guns N' Roses record and knew the game had changed. It was all killer, no filler and still to this day, I won't hit skip on a single song. It's one of those albums you just let play. For me personally, it was the greatest debut record ever, HANDS DOWN.
The "Pronounced" record by Lynyrd Skynyrd was my introduction to Classic Rock. "Free Bird" was my sisters class song back in 1989. Even all these years later, the song still appeals to a new generation. The album is a favorite debut for many people.
Van Halen 1. The album starts with "Runnin' With the Devil" for God's sake! Then the electrifying "Eruption" in to "You Really Got Me." I am a bigger fan of 5150 and favor Sammy over Dave but even I know this was a bad ass debut.
Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath. Not only was it their debut, this was the debut of HEAVY METAL. Masters of Reality MAY be a little better. The song Black Sabbath, The Wizard, NIB! Some great songs on a first album.
Led Zeppelin 1. Everybody talks about 4 but Zeppelin 1 has proved to be a force over time. I literally have played ever one of the songs on the radio. They never slowed down but they came out of the gates hotter than Hell.
