Luckily, two sisters lost for 2 weeks in the Upper Peninsula bought eight boxes of Girl Scout cookies from a relative before their trip and left a clue: one of the sisters inquired about Tahquamenon Falls on Facebook. They were rescued by Michigan State Police in a remote area near Lake Superior by helicopter. Their SUV got stuck in the snow on April 11. The women stayed with their vehicle and survived on cookies, cheese puffs and snow telling police a bear visited them two nights in a row. “They knew it wasn’t rescuers coming for them because rescuers would have flashlights” said police. The women tried to call 911 several times but didn’t have cell phone service.
