Man Fended-Off By Lapeer County 11-Year-Old With Shotgun Gets Prison Time
In a case that brought national attention, James Wasson was sentenced to a 25-40 years in prison in connection with a home invasion and an 11-year-old girl who hid in a closet, grabbed a shotgun stored in a gun safe and fending him off from a North Branch Township home. Lapeer County Prosecutor, Tim Turkleson was pleased with the sentence. "I hope she can put this traumatic experience behind her knowing that the defendant will never have the opportunity to harm anyone else" he said. "I hope she realizes, in no small part, the bravery she demonstrated when confronted with Wasson helped put him away for a long time."
