In 1912 on March 12, Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low from Savannah, Georgia gathered together a group of eighteen girls  for the first ever Girl Scout meeting. Daisy thought that  girls should have the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. She came up with service projects, outdoor adventures, and enrichment programs to get girls involved with their community.

Today, there are 3.2 million Girl Scouts. Approximately 2.3 million girl members and 890,000 adult members.

Girl Scout Day is part Girl Scout Week going on now through March16th.
