Max Scherzer did something Tuesday night that a Detroit Tiger hasn’t done since Vern Kennedy did it in 1938. Max with the victory last night over the Kansas City Royals gives him a record 9-0. Max becomes the first Tigers starter to begin the season 9-0 since Vern Kennedy set the record 75 years ago.

After the game last night Max said "Don't get me wrong -- I love being 9-0, but it's more important that we won. For me, it's all about going out there and pitching deep into the game and be effective.

This afternoon Justin Verlander will be on the hill for the Tigers to wrap the series with the Royals.
